Travertine · Iran

Beige (Cream) Travertine

Our beige travertine is a warm, cream-coloured stone from Iran, one of the best-known sources of travertine in the world. We stock it in two cuts: vein cut, with long parallel bands, and cross cut, with a soft cloudy pattern. It is the classic choice for floors, facades and pool areas, and it gives any space a calm, sunny feel.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Which of these stones is best for floors?

For warm, bright floors, choose beige travertine, Crema Marfil or Crema Uno. Crema Uno is the most even in colour, so it suits very large areas. For cool, modern floors, choose silver travertine or Tundra Grey. Pietra Grey is best for statement areas such as lobbies, bathrooms and feature walls.

What is the difference between vein cut and cross cut travertine?

Travertine forms in layers. Vein cut is cut along the layers and shows straight, linear bands. Cross cut is cut across the layers and shows a soft, cloudy pattern that hides joins well on large floors.

Can I use marble for kitchen countertops?

Yes, with care. Marble can etch if acids such as lemon or vinegar are left on it, so seal the surface and wipe spills quickly. A honed or leathered finish shows marks less. For very busy kitchens, a natural quartzite may be easier to live with.
